Hello hello Six Figure Sneakerheads. Welcome back and I hope you’re doing well.

It’s been roughly one year since Tyler Blevins, aka Ninja, became the first pro gamer to sign to adidas, and the 29-year-old is already getting his own version of a Three Stripes classic. Set to release in a matter of days is the Ninja x Adidas Superstar. Coming next Wednesday August 19th, Ninja’s Superstar will be available for $100.

What’s In A Superstar

Streaming king Ninja and adidas Originals have reunited for a new Superstar collaboration. Following up December 2019’s Nite Jogger “Time In” and a duo of yet-to-release takes on the ZX Torsion, Ninja and adidas‘s latest effort is decidedly more subtle than past projects. However, it’s certainly not lacking for Ninja’s signature flair.

White leather uppers are rimmed with sporty blue trim on the Three Stripe graphic and eyestays. What looks to be a blue nubuck liner covers the inner half of the tongue. Signature gold foil “Superstar” hits have been altered to read “Ninja” on the lateral side of each sneaker. Special lace deubres offer the streamer’s “Time In” motif on the right foot plus his signature logo on the right foot.

Although the lateral side is largely left unadorned, the medial side supplies ever-so-faintly printed digital patterns that reach from under the collar to the forefoot. Heels bring the top half together with a blue overlay, and opaque, icy blue outsoles round off the look.

Adidas Stock This Year

Other than collaborations with Ninja, Adidas has surely found a lane with what they’re doing in the footwear division.

Along the same thought as Ninja, Jonah Hill had a Superstar and Samba to release in July. I have a feeling that Adidas is offering up the classic silhouette for beginning collaborations to their new partners. Could be off but that’s just my thought.

On the side of the spectrum towards innovation, the three stripes put out the 4D Run 1.0, a mix of the newer 4D midsole technology combined with the original Ultraboost look from 2015.

Of course we have to mention the Yeezy sector of Adidas. Kanye and his team have had wild success of recent. This is alluding to the slides, the foam runners, and various 700 and 350 models. The newest of his canon is the Adidas Yeezy 700 V3, a truly polarizing shoe in today’s variety.

Resale Anticipation

Ninja and Adidas have had a small run so far. The duo has come out with a sneaker along with a slew of apparel and accessories under the Adidas umbrella already. With these Superstars as well as more ZX style shoes on the way, it’s clear they feel strong about their acquisition of the gamer.

As far as it goes in relation to reselling opportunities, treading lightly may be the safe thing to do in this scenario. I believe with all the hype in sneakers and streetwear at the moment, these will just be white noise. Depending on the size, you could find Ninja’s Nite Jogger under retail. I would expect the same for this upcoming release. Some sizes doing well, others flopping.

Do I think it’s a cool shoe though? Yes, and by all means cop what you like! But as for a huge payout, I wouldn’t count on it for these Superstars.
