History

Michael Jordan in his Air Jordan 11 in 1995-1996 season

The Air Jordan 11 Mid top may be the most popular today but the Low is just as important. Sometimes considered Michael Jordan’s favorite sneaker, these kicks have a special history.

Michael Jordan wore these sneakers after his return for the 1995-1996 season. However, before that, Tinker Hatfield had to design them with the intention of making them special.

He wanted them to be different than any other Air Jordan, thus choosing nylon initially as base material. That however, was obviously a bad idea so they decided to go with patent leather.

Hatfield wanted the Jordan 11 to resemble a beautiful convertible, elegant and flamboyant. Apart from the leather, it also included a lightweight mid-sole, air sole unit and a carbon fiber plate.

Although the sneaker had good , it had its issues. The Air Jordan 11 would get creased easily and had poor traction which caused MJ to fall in the 1995-96 playoffs.

They sneakers first released in 1995. The Mid was released in 3 versions for $125 while 2 Lows for $115. There were also only 5 pairs made for Michael Jordan’s “Space Jam” movie.

Releases continued each month with almost every release being hyped and sold out. Let’s look at a few examples to estimate how it’s resale value does. Particularly for the Air Jordan 11 Low White Bred.

How to Cop

I expect these will sell out so you’ve got to be fast. Expect these to hit the Nike SNKRS Application in China on the 22nd of May and US stockists about a month later.

If you fail to cop for retail, you can get them from re-seller websites such as StockX. These however are expected to cost a lot more.

Estimated Resale

I’m sure most of you are aware of “The Last dance” documentary on Netflix. I have to say, it is a masterpiece and I definitely recommend it to all my readers.

My point is, the documentary seems to have reinvigorated the hype for the OG Jordan colorways. The increase in some of their values is definitely noticeable so I expect the same effect on this sneaker.

Expect resale to be around $280. To get your money back after tax and service fees, you need to sell for around $220. That gives you an average $60 in pure profits.
