The Indigo Treatment

As I referenced in my rundown on the Jordan Brand Fall Collection, this Air Jordan 12 “Indigo” also referenced as “Stone Blue” is a brand new colorway that Jordan Brand will be launching during the month of August. Dressed in a Stone Blue, Legend Blue, and Obsidian color scheme.

This Air Jordan 12 features an upper that will fade to a reveal a unique design underneath. Other details includes Silver metal upper eyelets with White leather overlays. The release comes with a card that reads: “The Beauty of Imperfection, Fades to Perfection.” Indigo is among the oldest dyes to be used for textile dyeing and printing. The oldest known fabric dyed Indigo dates back to more than 6,000 years ago. No two pieces are alike.

Later news filtered through about the pair’s special wear-away upper and makes the pair all the more attractive and seems to have extracted a little bit of the salt from out there in the market.

Here are the images so far. Nothing on the wear-away portion yet but stay tuned. Can you see these on your feet this summer?

A side note, the similar looking “Obsidian” Jordan 12 was an original color way during its initial launch in 1997. It was later retro’d in 2012 and remains one of my personal favorite 12’s!

Jordan 12

Despite MJ not winning a championship in the Jordan 12, the shoe itself has been admired for decades now. In its first year, the colorways to release were the Taxi, Obsidian, Playoffs, and Flu Game.

Fun fact, it was later revealed by Jordan himself during “The Last Dance” documentary series that he caught food poisoning from delivery pizza, debunking conspiracy theories that the famous Flu Game was attributed to Jordan simply being hungover from a night of partying.

His twelfth shoe is making a little noise this year. Just recently we were treated to the black/gold iteration that you can buy now.

Rumor has it that we’ll also be seeing a “Reverse Flu Game” 12 that will be arriving just before the holidays, pictured below.

With that said and Virgil’s activity with retro Jordan’s, is it too much for to ask to get an Off White 12?!

Resale Anticipation

Given the state of sneakers now, these Indigo 12’s should sit somewhere in the middle of the spectrum with bricks being on one side and outrageous hype on the other. I believe that the stock numbers won’t be ridiculously high in order for there to be a fairly high demand on these. The special fadeaway print which we haven’t even seen yet is the perfect touch and adds a little boost for consumers to pull the trigger.

Initially I was thinking these would follow the trend of the recent black and gold pair but on second thought I have no doubt the Indigo will surpass them. The average of early sales is almost $400 at the moment. This will drop of course but you should still expect a profit margin.
