Asics| History
Asics was founded on 1st September 1949 by Kihachiro Onitsuka. He began to manufacture basketball sneakers in his home town Kobe, Japan. later on, the brand transformed and spread out into different sports with variating success.
Their running line especially the Gel Lyte which released in 1987 was a huge success and still sells well today.
Bulgarian designer, Kiko Kostadinov, first collaborated with Asics on a few new sneakers that he revealed during his Spring 18 men’s fashion show. Although he isn’t directly involved with Asics’ latest sneakers, hints of his design direction are evident.
Over the past couple of years, the duo has released over 10 sneakers together and has signed a multi-year partnership contract that will see multiple sneakers yearly at varying price points. Recently they dropped the Asics Gel-Kayano 14 Gold and the Classic Red colorways that sold quite well.

This Gel Kayano 14 comes in a mesh upper with a synthetic leather overlay that comes in a myriad of patterns. Long pull-tabs are featured over the tongues while It wears subtle grey and black color tones.
A matching midsole and black outsole complete this 2000s-inspired design.
The average selling price on reseller websites is just around $180 which is a $20 gross profit. At peak resale prices, gross profits are as high as $140 per pair. The Asics HS1-S Tarther Blast Misty Pine and Midnight may have a similar resale value.

Both these brand new sneakers come in a low-top design with similar characteristics to Asics’ runner shoes. The first sneaker takes on a green/aqua color tone while the other dons multiple shades of blue.
The build for both shoes is leather with recycled materials used on the tiger stripes and other parts of the upper. Suede makes its way onto the throats and heels while a breathable mesh is featured on the tongues.
Perforated toes, matching midsoles cushioned with ASICS NOVABLAST, and grey/blue outsoles complete the design.
