Ladies and Gentlemen, as we step into the New Year, it’s time that we take a look back. One of Nike’s iconic silhouettes, the Nike Air Max has had a long history with a host of releases. And today we will be ranking the top 5. You might not agree with my ranking but that’s the beauty of streetwear, everyone’s got their own style.
The Nike Air Max 1/97 Sean Wotherspoon released in 2018 for a mere price tag of $160 and the market went bezerk for it. It’s currently reselling at more than $1100 a pair! Reportedly inspired by Sean’s love for vintage Nike hats from the 1980s, this shoe features both the upper of the Air Max 97 and the sole unit of the Air Max 1, a pretty solid combination if you ask me.
Debuted on Air Max Day, the Nike x Cactus Plant Flea Market VaporMax 2019 reimagines the future-forward silhouette with a deft balance of its inherent technicality and CPFM’s two-fold design intent. First, by introducing 3D puff lettering, stitched taping, mismatched coloring and a wobbly Swoosh (formed by garden wiring), the VaporMax takes a hand-made feel. This human quality connects to the second intent: highlighting the natural beauty of “in-between time,” the moments in dawn and dusk that define a city’s particular color field.
The sneaker is currently reselling at almost $800 after retailing at $250 in 2019.
I’m personally a big fan of the Nike Air Max 97 silhouette. The aerodynamic futuristic design is what I love. The trainers are good for working out and for also going out for a couple of drinks with the boys. It’s a really versatile sneaker and for that reason, it’s on my rankings. While it may not have much history, it’s truly the Air Max that you need to want in 2020.
If you’re looking for performance, then you can’t go wrong with the Nike Air VaporMax 2020. The sneaker is well-designed for your work-outs. The all-around visible Air sole unit along with the Flyknit upper really gives you that exclusive feel that you’re searching for in a Nike Air Max. Moreover, the VaporMax also features a cog-tightening lacing system.
This final entrant in my ranking is more of a guilty pleasure. My love for Virgil Abloh culminates in this one sneaker. If I got this sneaker, I probably wouldn’t even take it out of its box. I don’t think I’d be able to risk getting its pearly whites exposed to any sort of dirt. But the way that its resale price is set-up, I can only dream about owning these sneakers.
And this brings us to the end of our rankings, let me know what you think in the comments below and if you’re planning on reselling sneakers, then this is the perfect time to get into the business. Keep reading to access our resources on how to sell sneakers for a living.
