Air Jordan 1 Low

The Air Jordan 1 is a classic silhouette and perhaps one of Nike’s over-all best sneakers ever. The low variant, although not as popular as the high, is still a solid sneaker with rich history.

Michael Jordan himself wore the sneakers on multiple occasions during critical championship games. The sneaker after being introduced in 1985 has seen countless renditions and colorways.

Although recently hype isn’t as high as high as it used to be, most releases still sell out instantly. After release of the Netflix documentary ‘The Last Dance’, anticipation for these shoes have further increased.

That not only effected primary sales but also the resale market. There’s clear evidence for the sneakers that were shown in the documentary to have their resale prices rise due to higher demand.

Nike Night Track & Astrograbber| Back To The 70s

Before Nike rocked the world with technologically revolutionary products and legendary designers such as Tinker and Phil Knight, they had the perfect shoes for various sub-groups of people.

The Nike Night Track was designed particularly for people living in that “Fast Lane”. Particularly, people with the glamorous life of the party where they would frequently visit clubs.

To appeal to them, Nike made the Night Track a true Disco sneaker in 1979. This glitter embellished sneaker was sought after by many, especially when most people couldn’t get their hands on them.

The sneaker had a silver Nylon upper and an out-sole with excellent traction. You know, for all those crazy dance moves they did back in the day.

The sneaker was actually pretty special at the time and was gifted to celebrities such as Michael Jackson and David Hasselhoff.

The Nike Astrograbber on the other hand, was a more serious performance shoe. It was a turf-inspired sneaker made for purely football performance.

The Nike Astrograbber was very important for Nike entering the football world. It released in 1976 and featured a waffle shaped studded out-sole for great traction.

These sneakers look great and perhaps that’s reflected onto its resale value. On StockX, the average selling price currently is over $219 per pair. That means on average, these kicks are making re-sellers about $80 in gross profits.

Had you sold these at peak resale however, profits would’ve been as high as $1,060 per pair! Overall, it’s quite similar to the Air Jordan 1 Low Gel Night Track. I assume resale will also be similar.

Inspired by the OG disco shoes and football shoes, these sneakers are back to give you a taste of the 70s. This Air Jordan 1 Low Gel pack includes two sneakers that pay homage to the Nike Night Track and Astrograbber.

The Astrograbber is a turf-football shoe which debuted back in 1976. It rocks a crisp white leather upper with sail overlay, a black ‘Swoosh’ and, a black sole that completes the design.

To rebuild the sneaker true to the original, it’s constructed from white mesh and sued. The ‘Swoosh’ on the other hand is leather.

The second sneaker, the Night Track was a pretty sought after sneaker back in 1979. It was made available to the general public years later in 2012 as was initially exclusive to friends and family.

The upper is a fusion of metallic silver nylon and leather. A red ‘Swoosh’ and collar liner provide a fiery contrast while a sail mid-sole and black out-sole complete the design.

Resale Value

Just as the aforementioned sneakers mentioned above, I believe there is potential for money to be made here. Considering the history behind them and the popular silhouette, they’re probably going to sell out fast.

To get your money back by selling the on StockX after a standard US tax and service fee. You’ll need to sell the Air Jordan 1 low Astrograbber and Night Track for at least $120. Thus by using my estimated resell value, you can expect profits of up to $130. In other words, that’s a gross profit of $150.
