What is SNKR FRENS?

The sneaker media conglomerate Sneaker News, which has amassed over 13 million social media followers, is diving into the Metaverse. Their NFT project, set to release sometime in April, is designed for the sneaker community.

According to Sneaker News, this first project will include a total of 10,000 NFTs although it is not 100% clear how many of these are unique. There could be 10 different NFTs that are sold 1,000 times or 10,000 individual images.

You can also get SNKR FRENS ahead of the public release if you hold an SNCC Membership Card NFT, and the release for that is unclear.

Most brands that release NFT collections use Discord as a means of communication and that is where you will be able to find specific and up-to-date information. Check out the Sneaker News Discord here.

Potential Problems With SNKR FRENS

The biggest potential problem that we see with SNKR FRENS is a similar problem that we saw with StockX.

As you can see from the images of the NFTs that we’ve included in this article, they are representative of physical sneakers that have been produced by Nike.

StockX tried to sell NFTs of Nike sneakers and they were hit with a lawsuit straight from Nike. It is possible that we could see a similar situation. These NFTs are much different from StockX’s and could easily avoid any criticism as they don’t include any logos.

This is always something to look out for in the Metaverse as people are always trying to take ideas and pass them off. You shouldn’t worry too much as Sneaker News is totally legitimate and well-respected.

Make sure you are paying attention and staying up to date as time is definitely money in this world.
