Before we get into details for the Nike Dunk Low Community garden AKA Lemon Wash, let me walk you through some history!

Skip to conclusion for summarized info.

Nike Dunk Low| A Brief History

Image from Sole Collector

The Nike Dunk has a lot of history with Skaters. Although this is not a skate specific shoe, it provided all the necessary features to make it one.

During the 1990s, the Nike Dunks were largely used on the skate scene along with the Air Jordan 1. They provided excellent traction and ankle support for skaters. The sneakers would stick well to the boards and the Air technology made them comfortable. What more could they ask for?

Of course Nike made the SB Dunk division back in 2002 specifically for skaters. However, that was after the Dunk had already made a good name on the skate scene. The 3M reflective panels really made them suitable for skaters.

The Dunk Low was created in 1985 specifically for basketball. Unlike the SB Dunk, they did not have a Zoom Air Pod in the sole nor padded tongues. The nylon was later added to the SB Dunk which the Skaters adored.

After many iterations similar and different to the Nike Dunk Low Lemon Wash, the Dunk Low has become street-wear icon. With material changes such as the introduction of sued, they’ve become more of a lifestyle sneaker than a performance one.

Nike has been leading the charge when it comes to environmentally friendly kicks and sportswear. Their “Move to Zero” campaign is all about stopping global emissions completely by 2030 and reduce plastic manufacturing significantly.

This means that recycling would have to be on the forefront when deciding on what kind of materials to use. At first, Nike used its Flyknit upper which uses recycled yarn to make its sneakers.

That however, was not enough. Nike continued to revolutionize sneaker manufacturing and came up with the Nike Space Hippie. These sneakers use 40 % recycled materials in weight which includes a new foam technology called “Crater Foam”.

This Crater Foam has also been used in the Nike Dunk Low Lemon Wash. To accurately estimate its resale value, let’s head on over to StockX. By assessing similar sneakers, we can get a good idea of what to expect.

Colorway: MULTI-COLOR/MIDNIGHT TURQUOISE-CARDINAL RED-LEMON WASH

It comes in an array of different colors, mostly dominated by turquoise and cardinal red. Although the nick name is “Lemon Wash”, that color only appears as spots along the side panels.

Various patterns including what appears to be branches and flowers can also be seen embellishing the upper. The laces, heel tabs, and swooshes come in a subtle yellow. A pale yellowish mid-sole and speckled crater foam out-sole finishes off the design.

Estimated Resell

A Nike Dunk Low in 2020 has so far always been profitable and the Nike Dunk Low Lemon Wash is expected to be no different.

If you sell on StockX, to get your money back you’ll need to sell for at least $120. Thus by using my estimated resell, you can expect profits of around $180 per pair in pure profits. If you sell on websites like eBay with a waived service fee, average profits will be around $200.
