Let’s get started.

A Closer Look

During this time of year, Sportswear brands traditionally tend to display their support for the LGBTQ community by honoring them with specially made footwear pieces in celebration of Pride month in June. So far this year, the imprint that’s been showing the most devotion is adidas as their 2020 “Pride Pack” has already uncovered NMD, Ultra Boost, Superstar, and Stan Smith renditions representative of the festivities.

And now the Three Stripes is welcoming in their Hoops division into this year’s lineup by bringing in a multi-colored iteration of the Beard’s signature Harden Vol. 4. At base, the shoes are executed with a clean white composition, and feature a dichotomy of cooler blue gradients on the toe boxes, and warmer gradients affixed to the heel. But perhaps the most stand-out feature is its bottom as rainbow panels divide themselves along the treading. Furthermore, the footbeds spell out the words “Love Wins” to speak further to its celebratory theme. Peep a detailed look below.

Performance Testing and Review

People are saying that the Harden Vol. 4 is one of the lighter Adidas shoes with great all-around performance. Although Boost is gone on the V4, it isn’t terribly missed and the Lightstrike tech provides plenty of feedback and bounce to make running up and down the court fun. The traction works great on clean courts and requires only minimal wiping on dusty courts. Adidas finally got it right with the V4 in every aspect especially stability. All in all, it is being touted as the best Harden signature shoe that Adidas has made.

Resale Anticipation

Clocking in at $130, the Harden V4 is not at a bad price point, all things considered in the sneaker world at the moment. An added bonus here is that the Vol. 4 is $10 less than its predecessor which is not something you find usually. As consumers we can always appreciate a price drop when so many others seem to be inflating.

Now to be frank, while this a fantastic shoe and has gotten stunning reviews in regards to its on-court performance, it more than likely won’t be a hot shoe in terms of reselling. Judging by previous Harden V4’s to release, this Pride iteration shouldn’t be that much more sought after. It will move the needle a little more than a normal color way but we don’t predict a huge resale premium.

On average right now, we’re seeing Harden V4’s going for about $90 on the secondary market. Based on this it wouldn’t be highly recommended to go after these for reselling purposes. Why is this? Maybe people aren’t necessarily wearing basketball shoes like this casually anymore. Back in the day sure, you would see Lebron, Kobes, and KDs everywhere off court. Now I don’t know if that’s as true.

On the contrary, these may even go on sale at some point. Often in terms of Pride collections offered from Adidas, Nike, Puma, etc they see some markdowns a few months down the road. If this isn’t a shoe you absolutely need right now, you could perhaps help yourself to a hefty discount later on. Patience saves pockets.
