Before we take a detailed look at the Air Jordan 5 Racer Blue, let’s see how profitable this Jordan 5 silhouette is on the secondary market today.
Jordan 5 | History and Resale In 2021
Created by Tinker Hatfield, the iconic Air Jordan 5 was released in February of 1990. These sneakers, like the Jordans before it, sold out most times they released and continue to this day.
The design was inspired by a World War 2 fighter jet, the Marine Spitfire, while the rest of the sneaker was designed to look and feel high-end to justify its relatively high price of $125.
Today, the sneaker continues to sell out but isn’t that profitable relative to its earlier counterparts.
The Air Jordan 5 Moonlight (Oreo), for example, resells for $230 on average while the popular Raging Bull sells for around $260.
To estimate resale for the Air Jordan 5 Racer Blue, let’s head on over to GOAT.
Air Jordan 5 Retro Bluebird
- Retail Price: $190
- Average Resell: $240
- Release Date: Thursday, October 7th, 2021
- Colorway: PHOTO BLUE/FOOTBALL GREY-METALLIC SILVER-WHITE
- Style Code: DD9336-400
This women’s exclusive sneaker was released earlier in 2021 and features a suede light blue upper that wraps almost the entire shoe.
Matching netted inserts cover the sides while dark green midsoles with contrasting white shark teeth along with translucent outsoles finish off the design.
On the secondary market, these sneakers are reselling for around $240 per pair. I expect the Air Jordan 5 Racer Blue to have a higher resale value.
Air Jordan 5 Racer Blue | A Closer Look
- Retail Price: $200
- Estimated Resell: $250
- Release Date: Saturday, February 12th, 2021
- Colorway: Black/Racer Blue-Reflective Silver
- Style Code: CT4838-004
This brand new colorway seems eerily reminiscent of the Air Jordan 5 Black/University Blue that dropped back in 2006 and is worth over $400. Making it a decent chance to cop a similar pair for those that missed out.
These sneakers feature a black nubuck upper with grey side netting and plastic eyelet panels. Lace toggles feature a transparent piece with a Racer Blue part that complements the tongue’s Jump-Man branding and outlines.
Titular blue midsoles with black shark teeth patterns and ice-blue translucent outsoles finish off the design.
