On December 24th, Nike is re-releasing the decade-old Nike Kobe 6 Protro Grinch for a retail price of $180. The name “Grinch” is probably fitting considering it’s Christmas Time but instead of stealing the Christmas spirit, this sneaker release will be adding to it as it’s a display of Black Mamba’s legacy.
An interesting fact that Nike originally didn’t plan to name it the Grinch or even model it after that. They were in fact modeling the colorway after the Green Mamba snake but somehow the sneaker community felt that the Grinch was a more suitable moniker. And it has stuck ever since.
Sneaker shops are calling the sneaker “The Gift” probably because of the Christmas Day game back in 2010 where Kobe gifted fans the sneaker to many courtside VIPs, and after 10 long years, the wider public is on the receiving end.
