Discover the story and hyped streetwear and sneakers from Fear Of God Essentials including a brief history into how they embedded themselves firmly within pop culture.
Jerry Lorenzo has always been one of the most passionate designers in modern history, often using his emotions as inspiration for some of his sneakers and streetwear.
After working a retail job at Diesel, Lorenzo gained significant insight into what makes streetwear ‘good’ which definitely helped him on his road towards F.O.G.
From working at a retail store, Jerry Lorenzo elevated his status and ended up working with some of the most revered brands on earth including Nike and Ermenegildo Zegna.
The brand, particularly their ‘Essentials’ line, has reached a point where it’s probably most celebrities’ favorite menswear fashion at this point. Think I’m exaggerating? Take a look over at 2018’s All-Star game and you’ll spot multiple celebrities wearing F.O.G apparel.
After quickly rising to stardom, Fear Of God continued their reign of success to this day while celebrities and pop culture icons continue to wear Lorenzo’s art pieces.
Inspiration and an unwavering focus on quality are what have made F.O.G so successful. Let’s go over just how special this brand is and check out a few of their hyped products to see how valuable they are.
Fear Of God Essentials | Classic American Men’s Wear
Lorenzo’s F.O.G journey began when he took time to recollect himself and his faith in 2013, which is where the name of his brand came from.
Coming from a religious background, the American designer clearly implements much of his secular beliefs into his work as well as elements of rebellion that manifest in the form of oversized bomber jackets, flannels, and side zippers, and baggy drop-crotch cargo shorts.
Lorenzo claims that he doesn’t make products that “haven’t been seen before, however, makes them in a way that’s noticeably high quality. These “solution-based” garments, as he puts it, are meant as high-quality leisurewear that discourages putting too much effort into your looks while simultaneously being stylish.
The underlying appeal of the brand, however, remains to be authenticity. Let’s take a look at a few streetwear pieces to assess the brand’s resale value.
Air Fear of God x Nike Triple Black
- Retail Price: $350
- Average Resell: $490
- Release Date: Saturday, April 25th, 2021
Adding on to Jerry Lorenzo’s Air 1 line with Nike, this iteration features an all-black monochromatic look with clean black suede toe boxes.
This basketball sneaker also features high collars and an unconventional black lacing system with side TPU caging. Branding is kept to a minimum with a single small Swoosh on the lateral sides.
Matching black midsoles with double-stacked zoom units and with an additional full zoom unit completes the design.
Although they include a hefty price tag, the resale price of these sneakers is even greater. On average, they’re selling for whopping price tags of over $480 per pair! The impressive part is, these aren’t even F.O.G’s most hyped sneakers!
Fear of God Essentials Knitted Sweater ‘Black’
- Retail Price: $100
- Average Resell: $200
- Release Date: Spring/Summer 2020
This regular knitted sweater retailed for $100 and sold out pretty quickly.
Featuring a fluffy knitted material with printed white “ESSENTIALS” written over it, the design is pretty simplistic, customary to Lorenzo’s design choices.

Fear Of God Essentials Pullover Hoodie Blush
- Retail Price: $100
- Average Resell: $380
- Release Date: Fall/Winter 2019
Released for the FW2019 season, this hoodie became one of the most popular items on the market when it comes to streetwear and seemingly everyone wants a pair!
Featuring a plain peach hoodie, the only branding appears on the sleeves and the back of the hood in a minimalistic fashion which is likely also what’s so appealing about them.
Resale for these sneakers is incredibly high as well. The average selling price is over $350 which comfortably yields profits north of $150 per pair for resellers.
There’s a reason why celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Rihanna, DJ Khaled, and so many others consider F.O.G Essentials as fashion staples for them as Lorenzo focuses on quality and noticeably gives his products more character than most other brands do.
