First up, the Nike Kobe 5 Protro 5 Rings,

The Nike Zoom Kobe 5 Protro “5 Rings” is next in line as the shoe cemented the importance of the Kobe 5 as it led the Mamba to his fifth championship victory.

The colorway was originally released in the summer of 2010, following the title victory.

The entire upper is etched with Kobe’s accomplishments and arrives in purple and yellow fashion with a gradient hit on the midsole.

This shoe completely encapsulates Kobe and his legacy that he left. Not only the basketball community, but the whole world lost someone when we got the news about Kobe.

This sneaker is a great example of how real-life events play such an important role in the resell market. For this sneaker specifically, we have two events that have really driven the value:

1. Kobe’s death

As we’ve talked about before, Kobe’s death has impacted the resell value on many sneakers. Any Kobe sneaker that releases now will be a physical remembrance of who Kobe Bryant was for so many people.

2. The Lakers winning the 2020 NBA Championship

Yes! The Los Angeles Lakers took home the 2020 NBA Championship after beating the Miami Heat. With Kobe’s team being the lakers, it’s no surprise that this helped the resell value!

Now in terms of resale for the Nike Kobe 5 Protro 5 Rings, we’ve seen some great numbers. With over 80 sales on the StockX Marketplace, the Nike Kobe 5 Protro 5 Rings has racked up a price premium of 53.7% and an average resale value of $282.

Next up, the Jordan 1 Retro High Lucky Green (W)

The Air Jordan 1 Lucky Green is the latest women’s exclusive colorway from Jordan Brand.

The Jordan 1 Tie-Dye and Satin Snake were two examples of heavy hitters for female sneakerheads this year, and the Lucky Green continues that hot streak.

The Jordan 1 Lucky Green takes inspiration from Michael Jordan’s 63-point game against the Boston Celtics in 1986.

Although its purpose is to draw attention towards MJ’s iconic scoring performance, the sneakers are known colloquially as the Heiniken for its resemblance to the 2003 Nike SB Dunk Low. A mix of Lucky Green, white, and black tumbled leathers are featured on the upper.

Hits of red come through on the wings logo, back, and tongue tab.

As we’ve discussed in previous Sneaker Market Recaps, the women’s sneakers are absolutely on the come up. Not only are more women getting into the sneaker game, but men who like the colorways are changing sizes to wear the women’s pair!

The resell value on the Jordan 1 Retro High Lucky Green (W) absolutely reflects this. With over 4480 sales on the StockX Marketplace, the Jordan 1 Retro High Lucky Green (W) has racked up a price premium of 41.8% and average resale value of $268!

And finally, the Jordan 1 Mid Dia de Los Muertos,

The Air Jordan 1 Mid “Dia De Los Muertos” is a special iteration of the silhouette which pays homage to Halloween, as well as the Day of the Dead — a holiday observed in Mexico from October 31 to November 2.

Bearing white leather underlays paired with Magenta overlays and matching rubber outsoles, the style also bears cracked yellow leather collars and Swooshes, alongside exposed stitching throughout.

Finally, “Familia” printed on the forefoot, black wax laces, and liners top off the design.

With Halloween and Day of the Dead both being around the corner, it’s not surprising why the resell value for the Jordan 1 Mid Dia de Los Muertos is so high.

The recurring theme in this article is real-life events. It’s so important as a reseller to be in tune with what’s happening around the world.

Even if things don’t seem sneaker-related, there are always ties. So it’s definitely important to read the news, keep up with sports, and just overall understand that day to day occurrences can impact the sneaker market.

Now in terms of resell value for the Jordan 1 Mid Dia de Los Muertos, we’ve seen yet again some positive numbers. With over 50 sales on the StockX Platform, the Jordan 1 Mid Dia de Los Muertos has racked up a price premium of 88% and an average resale price of $244.
