Can you Resell Hand Designer Bags?
The short answer to this question is, yes! But the real answer is, it depends.
Not all designer handbags are limited, trendy, or valuable enough to be lucrative, especially since some of these items can cost well in the thousands of dollars!
However, if you stick to the 3 most sought-after brands in the fashion world, you may be able to rack in a decent amount of profit per bag.
By far the best investments to go far are Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and of course, Hermès. Although the value may fluctuate depending on the model and buzz surrounding specific kinds of handbags, these 3 brands can be very lucrative if you pick the right items.
One of the most limited and hard-to-get bags are Hermès Birkin Bags and LV Multi-Pochette Bags that can earn you profits of up to $1,000-$2,000 per bag.
Let’s take a look over on StockX to see how profitable they really are.
Hermès Birkin Togo 30 Noir
- Retail Price: $11,000
- Peak Resell: $21,000
The Hermès Birkin remains the most coveted handbag of all time and continues to be the ultimate symbol of wealth and luxury.
The idea for this bag was conceived in 1983 on a flight where British Actress Jane Birkin and Hermes’ great-grandson met and sketched up the concept on a sick bag. Ever since then, each bag is handcrafted by a single artisan and their tools which they often keep when they retire. The time it takes to make a single bag is a painstaking 48 hours before it’s ready to be handed off to someone from the top 1% of society. The most expensive one has been sold for a whopping $300,000 to an anonymous bidder.
This Birkin bag features a classic design with Palladium plated pieces and black calfskin leather. Its average price on StockX is a massive $16,500 which is a $5,500 gross profit!
Louis Vuitton Multi Pochette Accessoires Denim Monogram Check Blue/Red
- Retail Price: $2,270
- Peak Resell: $3,500
This Louis Vuitton bag comes with a red strap, a denim upper, gold-toned pieces, and canvas patchwork.
Just as the Hermes bags, this bag is highly limited and sought after, yielding profits of over $1,250 per pair on average.
Although the market for them isn’t that large, once you do find a purchaser, the profits can be immensely high.
Hermès Evelyne III Taurillon Clemence PM Gold
- Retail Price: $3,800
- Peak Resell: $3,500
As I said before, all bags aren’t created equal and this remains true even for products from the top 3 most potentially lucrative brands.
This bag features a pebbled leather material with a simple strap and “H” shaped perforations.
The average selling price of this handbag is around $3,600 which is actually a discounted price of $200.
So just because it’s from one of the top 3 most valuable brands does not mean that it will necessarily be profitable. Watching out for the popular ones and keeping a keen eye on market trends is how you’ll remain lucrative in this or any other reselling market.
Have a profitable week!
